I chose family medicine because I love building relationships with people. I believe that is key to being able to effectively influence people with their lifestyle choices. Family medicine enables you to help navigate patients through all aspects of health across their lifespan while emphasizing preventative health and chronic disease management. I really appreciate the endless opportunities that Family Medicine provides and the ability to practice full-spectrum medicine.
I was looking for a large program that provided comprehensive training in a diverse, underserved population with a very strong community presence. I wanted the ability to get involved in the community and research. Emory was the best program to fulfill these desires. I also love the Atlanta area and the incredible diversity the area has to offer. During my interview, I had the best conversations with the faculty and residents that made me feel welcomed and that this is where I am meant to continue my growth as a person and family physician.
