Postdoctoral Fellow Association

The Postdoctoral Fellows Association is a vibrant postdoc group supporting and initiating varied events to advance the careers and community of postdocs at Emory University. The Postdoc Committee is the voice of the postdoc community to the administration and Office of Postdoctoral Education (OPE).

The Postdoctoral Fellows Association (PDA) is made up of 6 committees that assist the Office of Postdoctoral Education in organizing social and professional events for postdocs. The PDA publishes the quarterly Postdoc Newsletter and maintains the PDA website.

The PDA consists of the following committees:

Science Writers – This Committee takes on the arduous task of writing and disseminating the Postdoctoral Fellows Quarterly Newsletter as well as publicity for events and design of the postdoctoral fellow website. If you have ideas for the newsletter or want to contribute an article please contact the Chair for the committee.

International – This committee provides support to  International postdoctoral fellows following their arrival and during their time at Emory. They are also responsible for planning event/seminars specifically geared to International postdocs.

Minority Postdoctoral Council – This committee address the personal and professional needs of Emory minority postdoctoral fellows.  The primary MPC goals are to support  successful careers for minority postdocs, build strong community and camaraderie among minority postdocs, and recruit more minority postdocs and minority faculty to Emory.


Workshop –  The Workshop/Seminar Support Committee organizes workshops and special events, including responsibility for organizing, set-up, speaker preparation, and workshop breakdown. They are the backbone behind ensuring workshops and special events are conducted seamlessly. Other responsibilities include assisting with the annual Career Symposium.

Social – The Social Committee organizes fun events for postdocs to mix, mingle, and network whether it’s events for the family or those that are single. They plan and organize social events for postdocs to have fun and relax.

Research Symposium – This committee plans and organizes the annual Research Symposium for Postdoctoral fellows to present their research findings. The Symposium is an all-day event culminating with a reception for all in attendance.
