9) Searching for a particular or related citation
Searching for a particular citation or for a related citation

Frequently, you will want to find articles related to the one you are currently reading, or you may recall a particular article but not it's exact citation. There are several ways to track down known or related articles.

1) If you are looking for an article closely related in topic, such as a validation study, a great way to start is with the Institute of Science Citation Database.    Through this database you can find all articles which cite a particular article in their reference list.

2) Using PubMed, once you have searched and found the citation for the article you are interested in, you can automatically perform a "related articles" search.

3)  In PubMed your can you the Single Citation Matcher function.  Insert as much information as you know about the particular citation you are looking for.

4) In OVID or PubMed perform an author search, or, if you know the journal but not the exact citation, combine a search of the topic with a a journal search and/or author search.
