Stipend and Benefits

Stipend

Salary: FIRST fellows are supported by their research mentor in Year 1.  Then, fellows are supported by FIRST for a maximum of three years, beginning in Year 2. The annual amount of each stipend is based on the recommended stipend levels for individuals receiving support through institutional or individual National Research Service Awards (NRSA). FIRST follows the annual NIH postdoctoral career stipend levels.

Travel and Institutional Allotment: Beginning in Year 2, FIRST fellows have $2,000 (fiscal grant year is September 1 – August 31) to spend on a laptop, tablet, books, teaching material, and travel/registration cost to attend up to 2 scientific meetings. As a general policy, second or third year Fellows should present a poster or talk at each meeting they attend. First year fellows are encouraged to attend appropriate scientific meetings for professional development and may also submit abstracts for posters or presentations.

Benefits

Emory University offers a comprehensive benefits package for all postdoctoral fellows during the 4-year term. A summary of the benefits that are generally available to postdoctoral fellows may be found at Emory University. These include, but are not limited to, health care plan, dental plan, vision plan, parking/ transportation, disability insurance, and life insurance.

Additional questions or concerns should be directed to the Benefits Department or Emory Employee Services at (404) 727-7613.
