The current BMSc Medical Imaging Program has evolved from a rich history stretching back to the first x-ray technician program established at Emory University Hospital more than seventy years ago. The current program has evolved from that initial curriculum, which required only six months of clinical training, and through the following programs:
One-year certificate program in X-ray Technology (Emory University Hospital sponsored)Two-year certificate program in Radiologic Technology (Emory University Hospital sponsored)Two-year associate degree program in Radiologic Technology (Emory University sponsored)
to the current three-year baccalaureate degree program in Medical Imaging (Emory University sponsored).
Regardless of the program that you attended or the year of your graduation, you are still considered a part of the Emory Radiology family and we would like to hear from you. Please take a moment to update your personal information, let us know how you are doing, and send us a current picture for our Alumni Photo Gallery.
Reba Taylor Education Fund
We invite you to contribute to the Reba Taylor Education Fund. Many of you were Reba's students and we hope that you will honor her memory by helping us build a scholarship fund that will support others seeking a career in the profession she loved so much.
Reba Taylor directed the Emory University Program of Radiologic Technology for 37 years from 1958 to 1995. Miss Taylor was an active member of her local, state, and national professional organizations. She served as the executive secretary of the Georgia Society of Radiologic Technologists and as Southeast regional director of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists for many years. She was loved and respected by the more than 600 radiologic technologists she taught.
In recognition of her exceptional teaching abilities and the contributions she made to hundreds of Emory students as well as to the radiologic technology profession, the department has created the Reba Taylor Education Fund. Proceeds from this fund will be used to create scholarships for deserving students of the Medical Imaging Program. Contributions can be made to the "Reba Taylor Education Fund, Emory University" using a printed pledge form or electronically.
