At Work
For most rotations, the residents' workday begins at 8 a.m. and ends around 5 p.m. Our residents enjoy a collegial work environment with fellow residents and faculty. We have a culture of teamwork and are supportive of each other, whether by sharing study materials, assisting with the daily workload, or making call switches when the need arises.

After Work
Emory has a long tradition of camaraderie among resident classes, both at and outside of work. Social activities include resident-run happy hours in fun Atlanta locations such as Virginia Highlands, Little Five Points, and Midtown; poker nights; trivia nights; and playing in a local softball league. Residents also have an annual weekend retreat (typically in September) at nearby Lake Lanier, where opportunities for hiking and water sports abound.
Departmental Social Activities
In addition to these informal resident-bonding activities, the Emory Department of Radiology sponsors several annual events that bring trainees, faculty, and staff together for socializing. Emory Radiology sponsors a barbeque in early July to welcome new fellows and residents, a holiday party in December, and a graduation celebration at the end of the academic year. Additionally, the department sponsors an annual reception for Emory residents, faculty, and alumni at RSNA in Chicago. Other social events vary from year to year: a recent success was our Radiology Golf Tournament and Fall Picnic at nearby Stone Mountain Park.
