Electives

Emory residents have the opportunity to further their clinical education in an individualized manner through elective rotations. Residents can either identify a specific surgeon to work with exclusively (mentorship model) or they can identify a subspecialty specific team to rotate with to focus on attaining specific cases or clinical experiences. Elective rotations allow for residents to deepen their knowledge in a special area of interest and to develop meaningful mentoring relationships with faculty of their choice.

Research

Emory residents enjoy dedicated time to hone their research skills and dive into their projects of interest. Resident research projects are diverse, including topics in clinical care, surgical techniques, education & training, basic science, translational medicine, and “big” medicine/database studies. Dedicated research electives allow for residents to develop more in-depth relationships with their research mentors and to make greater progress on projects during protected time.
