ENRICH Study Leads to Surgical Trial for Hemorrhagic Stroke
Gustavo Pradilla Andrade (neurosurgery) serves as co-lead investigator of the Early MiNimally-invasive Removal of ICH (ENRICH) trial. The randomized, multi-center clinical trial, ENRICH demonstrated a positive surgical outcome in the treatment of intracerebral hemorrhage. Additional Emory at Grady faculty supporting the ENRICH research are: co-principal investigator Jonathan Ratcliff (emergency medicine), Michael Frankel (neurology), Jason Allen (radiology and imaging sciences), and David Wright (emergency medicine). George Birdsong Receives the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Pathology Informatics
George Birdsong (pathology and laboratory medicine) was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Association for Pathology Informatics. George currently serves as the Director of Anatomic Pathology, where he has overseen numerous process improvements.

This longitudinal 5-month career development program for under-represented minority faculty will provide resources, information and tools important for academic success. The course will feature didactic sessions from diverse speakers, experiential components, along with peer mentoring and networking. Participants will also be paired with organizational leaders as coaches during this process. Offered by the School of Medicine in collaboration with the Department of Medicine Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Council with support from Health Resources and Services Administration.

Meet Colleen Kelley (medicine) and Naquia Mitchell from the Emory at Grady Dean's Office of Research. Colleen is the Associate Dean for Research, and Naquia is the Associate Director for Research Programs & Operations. Together, they will lead and implement strategies to enhance research-related operations and facilities on the Grady campus.
2023 Research Priorities:
- Elevate research at Grady in partnership with all stakeholders (Grady, Morehouse, Community, others)
- Facilitate improvements in current processes to reduce burden on investigators
- Provide additional resources to investigators to catalyze research
- Establish Center for Health Equity Research

CMS Proposes Policies to Improve Patient Safety and Promote Health Equity
|
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a proposed rule for inpatient and long-term care hospitals to advance health equity and support underserved communities.
With the proposed rule, CMS is recognizing for the first time that homelessness, as a social determinant of health, also impacts resource utilization. Read more.

In this study, Sara Turbow (medicine) and others determine the association between hospital-level health information exchange participation and in-hospital or postdischarge mortality among Medicare beneficiaries with Alzheimer disease or 30-day readmissions to a different hospital.
Missed opportunities for prevention: prevalence and incidence of human immunodeficiency virus and hepatitis C virus diagnoses among a cohort of individuals discharged from an urban hospital with injection drug related diagnoses, 2012-2019
