Dear SOM community,
Many of you have requested guidance on navigating personal social media posts during this highly emotional time. As a general rule, I encourage everyone to consider the potential impact of anything you post—on our colleagues, our students, our community and our current and future patients. If you are at all concerned that a post or comment could be harmful or perceived as offensive to someone, the safest course of action is to not post. If it gives you pause, pause.
Additional guidelines and policies for Emory University, Emory Healthcare and the AMA are listed below. As someone who is quite active on social media and feel pretty savvy about it, I also have benefited from looking at these guidelines and thus would strongly recommend you review them:
We also provide social media guidance for students in the School of Medicine Student Handbook.
Thank you for your commitment to our mission and to each other.
