Dr. Raphael Warnock Speaks at Emory School of Medicine

Reverend Warnock

Reverend Warnock

This year, the featured speaker was the Reverend Dr. Raphael G. Warnock, 5th Senior Pastor of Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, previously co-pastored by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. Warnock spoke on the subject of social justice. His lecture was entitled: "If We Are Wrong: Justice Is A Lie and Love Has No Meaning".

This subject and title were inspired by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King and were taken from a December 5, 1955 speech he delivered at the Holt Street Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, just four days after Mrs. Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to relinquish her seat on a Montgomery city bus. Dr. Warnock spoke about "black lives matter" and why the demands for social justice are vitally important for all groups.  A dynamic speaker, he challenged all members of the audience to be involved in their communities. The audience was enthralled by his words and many took the opportunity to speak with him personally following his speech.
