Vamsi Krishna Kota, MD attended medical school in India, graduating from the Armed Forces Medical College in 2003. He did his residency and fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. and underwent Bone Marrow Transplant training at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. He joined Emory University as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology within the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology. Dr. Kota is a clinician and a clinical investigator to the Hematology/Leukemia clinical and research program, especially in the field of Myeloproliferative Disorders.
Dr. Kota’s clinical research interests include the identification of markers that predict response to treatment and the mechanics of resistance. He is a co-PI on a LLS funded project to decrease early deaths in APL. Additionally, a proposal with Dr. Kota as Co-PI has been submitted to ECOG/ACRIN and is pending review/funding. Dr. Kota is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. His articles have been published in a number of leading journals, including, The New England Journal of Medicine, Blood the Journal of the American Society of Hematology, and Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation
