Second Year Training

Second year hematology/oncology Fellows start a 12 to 18 month laboratory or clinical research project designed to produce at least one scientific/academic publication. The fellows are expected to present their research findings at Hematology and Oncology Grand Rounds, submit abstracts for presentation at up-coming national meetings, and to realize at least one publication. In addition, the second year fellows will continue to participate in

1. One half-day continuity clinic each week
2. Hematology and Oncology Grand Rounds Conferences
3. Core Curriculum Lecture Series
4. Review of Current Literature
5. The Elkin Cancer Biology Seminar Series
6. Drug Development Academy
7. Fundamentals of Clinical Research

Each fellow develops and submits a proposal for review by the Training Program Committee prior to starting their research project usually during the second half of the first year of training.
