  • Surgical Critical Care Fellowship, Emory University
  • Vascular Surgery Fellowship, Cleveland Clinic

How did you choose your specialty?

I ended up identifying closely with surgical mentors throughout medical school and my early training, which organically led me into the field.

What do you like MOST, and like LEAST, about your specialty?

  • Most: Highly respected field by other physicians, often time we are who other surgeons call when they need help.
  • Least: Administrative limitations on how much we can help patients (i.e.: financial constraints).

In your opinion, what attributes are important in anyone choosing this specialty?

Interest in truly being technically excellent – it requires a lot of mandatory dexterity that can always be taught to an interested learner.

Hobbies/special interests:

Family time is most important special interest these days, whatever it entails.  In my free time alone, I catch up on standard pop culture stuff, be it movies, TV, sports, etc.
