Ms. Olson re-joined the Emory University School of Medicine’s Office of Business and Finance as Assistant Dean in August 2004. She focuses her efforts primarily on the school’s research activities and operational aspects of the School’s financial management functions. As such, she oversees the Research Staff of the Office of Business and Finance, which is responsible for all pre-award review verification and usage review of all proposals and solicitations to external funding organizations, and post-award support including the effort certification process, CAS exceptions, and space award classification. Additionally, Ms. Olson oversees the operational aspects of the Fiscal Staff of the Office of Business and Finance which includes the budget planning process, prepares reports for internal and external constituencies, supports the operations of the departments, administrative units and centers and has fiscal signature authority for all non-restricted and restricted accounts including grant and contract accounts.

Ms. Olson has 20 years of experience in varying capacities within the Emory University System. She began her Emory career in the School of Medicine’s Office of Business and Finance; serving for 7 years. She then worked two years as the Administrator of the Department of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, and joined the Office of the Executive Vice President for Health Affairs as a financial administrator. Just prior to rejoining the School of Medicine’s Dean’s Office she held the position of Administrator for the Executive Vice President for Health Affairs, working directly with Dr. Michael M.E. Johns. Ms Olson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Troy University.
