Dear Fellow Alumni,
Each year, the School of Medicine graduates an exceptional group of healthcare providers who embody Emory’s mission of encouraging scholarship, advancing research, and providing public service.
At first glance, that statement seems obvious, unnecessary. As an institute of higher learning, it is our job to prepare students to become leaders in their fields. But as Emory alumni, you know there is nothing ordinary or mundane about what happens on our campus or in our hospitals.
In the pages of this newsletter and in future communications, we hope to reinvigorate your passion and excitement about our unique community. We will tell you stories of innovation and integration, inspiration and perseverance. In short, you’ll read about the people behind some of the best medicine practiced in the world.
We will also share more about our new strategic plan that crosses the entire continuum from undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education. The plan consists of eight shared goals that will be rolled out over the next three years. Highlights include reducing financial burden on our students, encouraging collaboration and cultural improvements, and developing robust interprofessional education opportunities throughout our programs.
As we implement these new initiatives, we welcome your input and feedback. Our alumni family has always been generous with their philanthropy—and now more than ever we encourage you to share your philosophy as well.
