Heather H. Hamby, MPH, is Executive Associate Dean and Chief Business Officer for Emory University School of Medicine and Associate Vice President for Health Center Integration for the Woodruff Health Sciences Center.  In her role within the School of Medicine, she serves as the principle business leader, managing an annual budget of $750M, with $350M in annual research funding and $120M physician practice serving Atlanta’s public safety net hospital.  She has led strategic organizational initiatives on behalf of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center and Emory Healthcare, including a strategic funds flow realignment.

In addition to her leadership roles in the School of Medicine, she also serves as Chief Business Officer for the Emory Clinic and Emory Specialty Associates, the largest, most comprehensive group practice in Georgia.  As Chief Business Officer, Ms. Hamby oversees 140+ physician practice locations across Georgia, with associated 3.8M annual patient encounters and approximately $1B in revenue.

During her 20 plus years of service at Emory, Ms. Hamby has served in other key roles, including Vice Chair of Administration and Executive Administrator for the Department of Medicine; Executive Administrator for the Department of Surgery; and Executive Administrator for the Emory Transplant Center. Her administrative leadership roles have included strategic planning, program development, operational and fiscal management, business leadership, and operational engineering.

She has active participation in several community and professional organizations, including 2006 Woodruff Leadership Fellow in Emory’s Woodruff Health Sciences Center, Leadership Atlanta class of 2016, and former co-chair and Vice president of local elementary school parent-teacher association.

Ms. Hamby received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and her Master of Public Health degree in health policy and management from the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University.
