Dr. Haley is Emory School of Medicine Executive Associate Dean of Clinical Services for Grady Memorial Hospital and Chief Medical Officer of the Emory Medical Care Foundation. As the chief liaison for the Emory School of Medicine and the Grady Health System, Dr. Haley is responsible for executive leadership, strategic vision and direction for Emory’s clinical, research and teaching practices at Grady.
In addition to this title, Dr. Haley is associate professor of Emergency Medicine at Emory University and is currently the Deputy Chief of Staff and Deputy Senior Vice-President of Medical Affairs for the Grady Health System. Dr. Haley holds the additional titles of Chief of Service, Emergency Medicine for the Grady Health System, Medical Director of the Emergency Care Center at Grady Memorial Hospital and Vice-Chairman, Clinical Affairs, Grady Health System.
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Haley joined the Emory University School of Medicine faculty in 1997 and has since remained steadfast in serving the patients, families, physicians, staff and communities that rely upon the Grady Health System for clinical care, teaching, discovery, and social support. Revered for his graceful and principled leadership, Dr. Haley has interests and publications in health administration, operations and strategic management and diversity as it relates to healthcare and emergency medicine. Dr. Haley has served on or chaired various hospital, university and national committees including the Board of Directors for the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and the Institute of Medicine’s Committee on Health Insurance Status. He is a member of several national organizations including the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American College of Physician Executives. Dr. Haley is also an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Haley serves on the State of Georgia’s Trauma Network Commission as an appointee of the Lt. Governor.
Haley’s honors and awards include a 2012 Fulton-Dekalb Hospital Authority Healthcare Hero, Atlanta Business Chronicle Healthcare Heroes award in 2005,and “Up and Comers Award” in 2004, Who’s Who in Black Atlanta 2007, International Who’s Who of Professionals, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Pink Ice Gala Community Service Award and the Delta Sigma Theta Golden Torch Award.
Dr. Haley is Board-Certified in Emergency Medicine and is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American College of Physician Executives. He was also a member of the Institute of Medicine Committee on Health and Insurance Status.
Dr. Haley received his undergraduate degree from Brown University, his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan. Dr. Haley completed his residency, including a year as Chief Resident, in Emergency Medicine at the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Haley is an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Atlanta, a Board Member of Leadership Atlanta, Camp Twin Lakes, Girls on the Run, a member of the Community Advisory Board for the Junior League of Atlanta, the Griffith Leadership Center at the University of Michigan and a member of the Omega Psi Phi and Sigma Pi Phi national fraternities.
