Welcome to the Diversity web page for Emory School of Medicine. 

Diversity is a core value within Emory University. It is reflected in the University mission statement, which challenges us to create a sense of “community and inclusion”, and in the School of Medicine mission statement urging us to develop a “diverse group of students and innovative leaders in the biomedical science, public health, medical education, and clinical care.” We are especially mindful of the importance of diversity in the School of Medicine. There is much evidence that diversity among healthcare workers is associated with better outcomes for patients and a superior educational experience for our students.  

To better understand our strengths and challenges in the area of diversity we recently embarked on a process of self-study. Spanning several months and including faculty and staff this period of collective introspection afforded us an opportunity to recommend new programs and how to enhance existing ones.
