Permuted Index:
The Permuted Index is an alphabetical list of all of the words which comprise the MeSH terms.  It is a convenient way to find the correct multi-worded MeSH term if you only know one word, or if you are not exactly sure of the correct term at all.  Using this function retrieves a list of all MeSH terms containing the word you searched.
Notation in GratefulMed and PubMed
Enter the term as follows: 1) for non-mesh searching use quotation marks around the term  2) spell out the entire suffix, don't use the abbreviations 3) place the suffix in brackets instead of seperating it by a slash. For example

To use the permuted Index in PM click on index beneath the search entry spot, choose the search field from the drop-down-menu and enter the term of interest.  You will get a list of all matching MeSH terms and a breakdown by subheading.
