2004 - 2005 Mini-Fellowship Sponsored by RENAL ULTRASONOGRAPHYFive-Day Mini-FellowshipConducted at: General InformationUltrasonography, a new technique for nephrologists, is currently not an established part of nephrology training programs. This mini-fellowship provides the intensive training that practicing nephrologists and academic nephrologists will require to become competent in this technique. Learning ObjectivesThis course is designed for nephrologists who have already taken Ultrasonography for Nephrologists or have previous experience and/or training in ultrasonography. Learning objectives include:
The program is basically unstructured. The attendee will accompany the nephrology fellow assigned to ultrasonography as s/he performs ultrasound examinations under the supervision of Dr. O'Neill. Time will be spent learning how to operate the equipment, position the patients, image the kidneys, and interpret real-time images. The course faculty will review, with the attendee, teaching files and learning procedures for coding and billing. At the end of each day the attendee will join the ultrasound team to participate in the reading and reporting of the day's ultrasound examinations. Charles O'Neill,

MD The mini-fellowship registrant must participate in a 2-day weekend renal program prior to registering for the 5-day fellowship. The 2-day weekend program is offered several times during the year and registration is made through the CME office. Registration for the mini-fellowship is scheduled through the department.
