Allied Health students, with the exception of those in the gynecologic-obstetric nurse practitioner program and the hospital pharmacy technician program, are assessed a sixty dollars per semester immunization and disability fee. This fee covers the cost of administering the hepatitis B vaccine series, PPD tuberculin skin tests, and the care and treatment of allied health students with positive conversions, as well as the cost of long-term disability insurance.
Tuition charges cover tuition, use of all facilities of instruction, general medical and health services, and library services.
Part-time students (those registered for a course load of less than twelve hours) pay one-twelfth of the full-time rate for each semester hour. Health services for part-time students are limited to outpatient consultation.
Special standing students are under the same financial regulations as regular allied health students.
If a student remains in school and drops a portion of work after the last day for change of courses, the student will not receive a refund for the work dropped.
Students who have completed course and residence requirements for a program but remain in residence to complete special projects (without obtaining credit) or to prepare for examinations must register at the beginning of each semester. Such registration requires an eighty-five-dollar fee for all programs except physical therapy. Physical therapy students must pay a resident fee of one thousand dollars.
Audit Courses
The same charge for credit courses applies. Audited courses may not be established for credit by examination nor may audit courses be transferred to credit courses after the first week of classes.
Refund Policy
In case of withdrawal within the first five weeks of a semester an adjusted refund of tuition and fees will be granted. No refund is given if a student is dismissed. Refunds for first-time Emory students who are Federal (Title IV) aid recipients will be prorated in accordance with the Higher Education Amendments of 1992 and any related regulations.
Prospective allied health students who need financial assistance should begin early to investigate aid available to them for their particular program. They should complete appropriate forms and applications for aid early in the academic year preceding the year in which aid will be needed. All students who wish to receive aid must complete a package of financial aid forms provided to the applicant at the time of the admissions interview. All matriculating students with loans must attend a mandatory entrance interview as well as an exit interview upon graduation.
Emory University utilizes the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the PROFILE from the College Scholarship Service. Both forms are available on the Web. Applicants who wish to be considered for scholarships and low cost loans must submit both forms, and parental data is to be included on the PROFILE. Applicants who plan to borrow the cost of education need only submit the FAFSA. Applicants should access the PROFILE site in October and the FAFSA site after January 1. Applicants should not wait until they are interviewed or accepted to start the financial aid process. The WEB sites are as follows:

PROFILE: http://www.collegeboard.org/profile.html

A variety of on-campus and off-campus housing is available. On-campus housing includes a graduate and professional residential complex offering a wide variety of accommodations ranging from a high-rise tower (single students) to attractive efficiencies and one- and two-bedroom garden apartments. The complex includes recreational, conference, and seminar facilities and is convenient to campus. Most units are unfurnished, but stoves and refrigerators are provided. The cost includes basic utilities with the exception of long-distance telephone service. Further information is available from the Department of Residential Facilities, Graduate Housing, Emory University, Atlanta, GA 30322-0660. Monthly rental rates range from $458 (efficiency) to $1,260 (three bedrooms) including heat, water, and local phone in most units.
Students enrolled for 12 or more hours or in graduate residence are eligible for campus housing. Because of the high demand for graduate housing, graduate students may live in university housing for a maximum of four years. Campus apartment rental requires a deposit of one month's rent in advance. Do not send a deposit with the application. The deposit remains on file as long as a student is assigned to a campus residence and is refunded only if the living quarters are left in an acceptable condition.
Residents must arrange their own insurance coverage. No financial responsibility for personal property is assumed by the university.
Students interested in campus housing should request an application from the Department of Residential Facilities, Emory University, Atlanta, GA 30322. Assignment priority is based on application date. A housing application places a student's name on the waiting list, but does not guarantee university housing. Applicants will be notified if housing is available.
The Housing Office maintains an extensive list of rooms and apartments available in the Emory area. This has proven to be an important information source for graduate students. Information cannot be mailed or given by telephone because of constant turnover in listings.
